Softball: Potomac State sweeps Corning

KEYSER, W.Va. — Potomac State scored in all but one inning in the opener, and Kadi Cosgrove hit a walkoff double in the second game as the Catamounts swept Corning, 7-2 and 2-1, in junior college softball Tuesday.

In the first game, Abby Gillingham led the way at the plate with three singles, two runs scored and an RBI. Megan Newcomb hit a double, two singles and drove in a pair of runs and Sierra Farris ripped a double and a single, driving in two runs and scoring once.

Potomac State scored once in the first, fourth and sixth innings and twice in the second and fifth innings.

Jordyn Munson pitched all seven innings for the Catamounts, yielding five hits and a walk while striking out four.

In the second game, Munson ripped an RBI double in the bottom half of the first to score Cosgrove.

Corning tied it in the top of the seventh, then Cosgrove, who had singled earlier in the game, ripped an RBI double to score Gillingham from first base.

Potomac State (11-7) hosts Chesapeake on Friday at 3 p.m
