Softball: Lackawanna sweeps PSC
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Errors cost Potomac State in the opening game and a lack of hits were to blame in the second as the Catamounts were swept by Lackawanna, 12-7 and 3-0, on Thursday afternoon.
Despite being outhit, Potomac State smacked 11 hits in the first game as Kadi Cosgrove led the way with a three-run double and a run scored. Megan Newcomb added three singles and a pair of RBIs and Carly Nixon doubled, singled, scored and drove in a run.
After Lackawanna scored once in the first and four times in the top half of the second, the Catamounts tied the game with five in the bottom half fo the second inning. Potomac State took a 6-5 lead in the third before Lackawanna responded with seven runs in the fourth.
Moriah Lynn led Lackawanna with a double, single and five RBIs. Emily Duffy added a double and three singles.
In the second game, the Catamounts had just four hits — a pair of singles by Jordyn Munson and singles by Cosgrove and Abby Gillingham.
Kacey Orlowski, who twirled the four-hitter for Lackawanna, ripped a triple, a single and scored a run. Barbara Verrastro added a pair of singles.
Potomac State (3-5) will travel to Frederick on Sunday, March 19, for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
