Wright's homer lifts Lady Cats over Dundalk
KEYSER, W.Va. - Brittany Wright belted a three-run home run that proved to be the game-winner as Potomac State College handed Dundalk its first loss Sunday at Potomac State College.
Dundalk won the first game of the "home and away" doubleheader 8-1 before falling to the Catamounts' 8-7 in the second game.
The Catamounts were the home team in the first game and was the visiting team - even though the game was still at Stayman Field.
In the second game, Potomac State trailed 4-3 entering the sixth inning. Catcher Ashley Conners, who finished with three RBIs, drove in two with a base hit to give the Catamounts a 5-4 lead. Dundalk responded, however, with three runs in the bottom of the inning before Wright's home run. Dundalk didn't score in it's half of the inning.
In the opener, Megan Henne struck out 10 and walked two to pick up the complete-game victory. She scattered seven hits. Ashley Metcalfe struck out nine and walked four in the loss. Potomac State, however, suffered six errors.
Lindsey Twigg, the winning pitcher in the second game striking out eight and walking three, homered and had a base hit in the opener. Wright had two base hits.
Kacey Wheat led Dundalk with a base hit and a two-run home run in the seventh inning.
Potomac State (12-8) visits Garrett Tuesday for a 3 p.m. doubleheader.
