Potomac State blanks Beaver in sweep
MONACA, Pa. - Aaryka Anglin took care of Beaver County in the first game, and Kayla Stickel and Rochelle Wolford did the same in the second as Potomac State swept a doubleheader, 11-0 and 16-0, in Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference action.
The three Catamount pitchers allowed a total of three hits in nine innings in the two games. Anglin got 13 of the 15 possible outs by strikeout while allowing no walks. Stickel pitched the first three innings of the second game before Wolford took over for the fourth. The two combined for six strikeouts and no walks.
Stickel had three of PSC's 15 hits in the first game, getting four runs batted in on a triple, single and a two-run, fifth-inning home run. Brittany Wright finished with three RBIs with two doubles and one single, and Morgan Shockey had two singles and three RBIs.
Shockey added three hits in the second game, two doubles and a single, and Shelia Armel knocked in three runs with a triple and a single.
Samantha Haines was the big producer of the second game by bringing in five runs with a triple and a single. Brittany Kolb contributed a double and two singles.
Winning its first two conference games also pushes the Catamounts record to 7-5 overall. They will host Garrett today at 3 p.m.
