Lady Cats push win streak to ten; sweep past CCAC-South

WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. — Tiffany Biggs went 4-for-4 in the first game and Potomac State erupted for 10 runs in the fourth inning of the second to extend its winning streak to 10 games and stay unbeaten in the Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference with a 10-0, 13-4 sweep of CCAC-South in college softball on Sunday.

In the six-inning opener, Jessica Shirley fired a three-hit shutout and was backed by a 13-hit attack. But it was a scoreless game until the fourth inning, when the Catamounts (17-7, 12-0) six times.

Biggs had a double and three singles, Christie Shaw a three-run double and Shirley two singles. Shirley walked only one and struck out six.

In the nitecap, winning pitcher Victoria Thompson, Chelsea Holcomb and Mandi Workman doubled and singled for Potomac State. Thompson and Holcomb had two RBIs for the Cats, who led 3-2 before the big 10-run fourth.

Thompson struck out five in four innings.

Potomac State plays again Tuesday at CCBC-Dundalk.
