Potomac State Softball splits with Hagerstown; today's game moved to Friday

KEYSER, W.V. — Potomac State’s Bethany Hansel, Mandi Workman and Tiffany Biggs homered in a five-inning rout in the first game, but the Catamounts went scoreless in the second and had to settle for a split of their college softball doubleheader Tuesday with visiting Hagerstown.

Potomac State won the opener 11-1, and Hagerstown took the nitecap 1-0.

In the opener, Hansel smacked a three-run home run and a single, Workman belted a solo homer and a single and Biggs added a solo shot for the Catamounts, who led 8-1 after three innings.

Biggs allowed only two hits, did not walk a batter and struck out eight in getting the win.

In the second game, Megan Pomeroy fired a five-hit shutout and scored the only run when she singled and scored on Mallory Wishard’s single in the fifth inning.

Chelsea Holcomb had two singles for Potomac State, which stranded nine baserunners. Jessica Shirley absorbed a tough loss, allowing only three hits with no walks and six strikeouts.

Pomeroy struck out two.

Potomac State's (7-7) game with Garrett today has been postponed until Friday at 3 o’clock.
