Lady Cats lose pair at Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — A day after combining to win two games by 14-1, Potomac State saw its offense go quiet in dropping two games by a combined score of 14-5 Tuesday in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The Catamounts allowed three runs in the first and three runs in the seventh, sandwiched around a round in the fourth in dropping the opener 7-2 to Grace, before allowing seven unanswered runs in a 7-3 loss to Hudson Valley, who the Cats beat 6-1 on Sunday.

Brittany Thacker had two singles for Grace in the opening game win, as the Lancers finished with seven hits.

Chelsea Holcomb collected two of Potomac State’s three hits with a pair of singles.

Game two saw the Catamounts take a 3-0 lead in the first inning, but get shut out the rest of the way to fall to 3-2 with the loss. Nat Triano had a double and a single for Hudson Valley, which used a four-run fifth inning to take the lead.

Tiffany Biggs drove in two runs for the Cats with a double and a single.

Potomac State will play again on Wednesday when it plays both Hudson Valley and Bowie.
