Potomac State Softball sweeps CCAC-South

KEYSER, W.Va. — Tori Thompson and Emily Roberson teamed on a two-hit shutout in the first game, and Lindsey Stidom homered in the second as Potomac State swept CCAC-South 14-0 and 10-4 Wednesday afternoon.

In the opener, shortened to five-innings by the mercy rule, Savannah Hose had three singles, Thompson doubled and singled, and Taylor Rice and Courtney Dolly had two singles to lead the Catamounts’ 11-hit attack. Hose, Thompson and Rice each knocked in two runs.

Thompson got the win with three perfect innings and combined with Roberson for seven strikeouts.

In the second game, Stidom hit a solo homer in the second inning and had an RBI single later as Potomac State overcame an early 3-0 deficit.

Hose tripled, doubled and knocked in three runs, Rice had three singles and an RBI and Roberson doubled and singled for the Cats, who outhit South 13-3.

South led 4-2 in the fourth. Potomac State took its first lead with a four-run fourth and tacked on four insurance runs in the sixth.

Potomac State (4-0 overall, 2-0 Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference) visits CCBC- Dundalk on Friday at 3 p.m.
