Potomac State sweeps Essex and wins five-setter with Butler

Morgan Mongold capped two days of action by helping Potomac State outlast Butler (Pa.) Community College on Saturday in five sets one day after sweeping Essex.

Mongold combined to score 23 points, leading with 11 along with Michaela Osbourne against Butler. She had 15 kills and 15 digs. Osbourne stood out with nine kills, six digs, four aces and three blocks.

The Catamounts (8-2) won on game scores of 25-23, 21-25, 25-21, 22-25 and 15-11. Kaitlyn Semler had eight kills, 15 digs, and six points. Alyssia Whitacre dealt out 38 assists, had 25 digs and scored seven points. Peyton Smith had 39 digs and Stephanie Cornachia made 13 kills.

On Friday, Potomac State defeated Essex 25-22, 25-22 and 25-10.

Mongold had 12 points, six kills and 11 digs. Osbourne finished with 11 points, six kills and three blocks. Whitacre had 12 points and 20 assists. Amy Conley combined for eight kills in the two matches.

The Catamounts will host the Community College of Beaver on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
