Volleyball: Catamounts rally past Butler

BUTLER, Pa. — Sarah Lowery rallied Potomac State to a third-game win and Sarah Whiteman and Jesi Dayton came off the bench to provide a big fourth-game spark to lift Potomac State past Butler.

Butler won the opening game 25-17 and Potomac State took the second 25-19. Butler led the third 24-17 when Lowery served for seven points in a row to tie it 24-all. The Cats would win that game 27-25, and then took the fourth 25-21.

In the fourth, after Anya Murray was sidelined with an ankle injury, Whiteman and Dayton came up with exceptional play, with Whiteman on the back line and Dayton on the front row.

Murray finished with 13 kills and 10 digs, Shayla Hillian had nine kills, 12 digs and five blocks, and Shakayla Ganoe 35 assists, three blocks and two aces. Autumn Dishman had 12 digs, Kyle Stottlemyer six kills and five digs and Cassidy Cosner three kills and three digs.

Potomac State (6-2) will play Northern Virginia, nationally-ranked Catawba, N.C., and Division I Monroe, N.Y., on Saturday at Northern Virginia at 9 a.m.
