Volleyball: Potomac State sweeps to victories

SPRINGFIELD Va. — Potomac State won both matches, 3-0, completing a clean sweep over Northern Virginia Community College and Sandhills Community College on Saturday afternoon.

The Catamounts defeated Northern Virginia in the first match, 25-15, 25-12 and 25-21. Potomac State was led by Shayla Hillian with 14 points on eight kills, four blocks and two aces. Sarah Lowery finished with 10 kills and an ace for 11 points and Ericka Gordon added eight points on six blocks and two aces. Bailey Godlove recorded 27 assists and five aces and Brittney Hovic had six kills.

Hovic led the way in the second game, a sweep over Sandhills, 25-18, 25-18 and 25-20. Hovic finished with 12 kills and four blocks.

Anya Murray recorded eight kills and just as many digs. Lowery and Gordon had six kills apiece, with Gordon adding 10 digs and two aces. Godlove finished with 29 assists and Roberts 19 digs.

Potomac State (2-0) will host Penn Highlands on Tuesday, 6 p.m.
