Mission Statement
Catamount Children's Center's mission is to provide a safe, healthy, enriched environment for the growth and welfare of children of all abilities that families can trust.
Philosophy
We believe that childcare should be provided in support of families. It should be directed to the protection, healthy growing, and development of each child. It should be supplemental to the child rearing practices and responsibilities of the family.
Program Summary
Catamount Children's Center operates in partnership with Potomac State College of West Virginia University. They are also a core partner with Mineral County Schools offering Pre-K, utilizing Creative Curriculum, one of the most highly recommended preschool curricula in the country.
Catamount Children's Center offers quality childcare for preschool (age two) to grade six (age 12), before and afterschool component, and a summer program. The site is also utilized as a training site for students seeking an A.A.S. degree or a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Potomac State College. The center offers indoor and outdoor activities as well as educationally stimulating activities appropriate for the ages of the child.
The Center follows a routine schedule for the children with a variety of activities. The staff completes and sends home daily activity records for each child along with projects the child has completed. Children are provided a "cubby" to hold their personal belongings and to store their artwork.
