Leah Hershberger was recently honored at Potomac State College during a special ceremony on Sunday, April 26, with the inscription of her name on the Duke Anthony Whitmore/Henry Louis Gates, Jr. Academic Achievement Wall.  The Scholars’ Wall was conceived in order to recognize the academic and scholarly achievements of students, alumni and faculty.

Leah is a recent PSC graduate from Martinsburg, Pa. majoring in resource management.  Having grown up on Elda-Chross Farms, she has viable first-hand experience with the management, production, accounting and other recordkeeping practices needed to run this type of business.  She has also been competing in various cattle shows for several years.

In addition to receiving the E. William Noland Outstanding Student Award, Leah has been named to the President’s Lists for all semesters in which she has attended Potomac State.

She received a Potomac State Women’s Basketball Scholarship and served as captain of the team, playing in the guard position; and was also awarded the PSC Blue and Gold Level 1 Academic Scholarship.  She received the Dr. Roy D. Hoffman Scholarship and the Glenn Beach Memorial Scholarship as well.

Leah served as the student representative for the PSC Social Justice Committee, was an Academic Success Honoree and was a finalist for Homecoming Queen here at the College. Additionally, she was a member of the PSC Collegiate 4-H Club and the Ag and Forestry Club.  Volunteer work included helping out with the Day of Caring and Sharing, the ‘Soles for Souls’ Campaign and organizing the West Virginia State FFA Livestock Quiz Bowl.

Leah states that a favorite quote by famed Green Bay Packers Coach Vince Lombardi encompasses her mindset, “Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.”
