Picture yourself in Italy this Spring Break

Have you ever wanted to wander the halls of the Vatican or gaze into Michelangelo’s Creation paintings on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel?  Or experience the miscalculation of the Leaning Tower of Pisa?  Well now you can!

Potomac State College is excited to introduce a new study abroad opportunity for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and members of the community.

“Splendors of Italy” is a brand new program being offered this fall that will include a semester- long course tied to a 2016 Spring Break trip to Italy.

Highlights of the trip will include:

  • Visits to the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel, Colosseum, and Forum in Rome.
  • Stops in the medieval towns of Orvieto, Siena, San Gimignano, Greve, and Montecatini to take in the gothic architecture and renaissance art.
  • An excursion to Florence that will include a stop at the Uffizi Gallery and Duomo.
  • A stop in Pisa to visit the Square of Miracles which includes the famous Leaning Tower.
  • Boat rides through the Venetian lagoon and a visit to St. Mark’s Square.
  • All transportation, hotel accommodations, and daily breakfasts and dinners are also included.

For Potomac State College students, this trip, along with its accompanying class, will serve as an opportunity for students to gain a unique and international educational experience.  Students will also receive instruction regarding international travel, which will enhance their knowledge and abilities in dealing with new situations and life barriers by stepping outside of their comfort zone and challenging their understanding of how the world works.

Just imagine being in the midst of the history, culture, customs, language, and food of Italy as you develop an appreciation of the arts, architecture and Italian people.

However, if you’re unable to participate in this wonderful opportunity, you can still assist students with their efforts to experience Italy in person, by making a tax-deductible donation which will help keep the costs of the trip more affordable for our students.

Interest has been extremely high and the College would like to take at least 20 students on this inaugural journey.  Upon returning, donors would have the opportunity to meet the students they assisted during a “Welcome Back” reception provided by the College.  Donors will also receive a first-hand account of the impact their funding had on the students’ invaluable global experience.

Support for this trip will reinvigorate the study abroad program at Potomac State.  Anyone wanting to donate or participate in this trip may do so by contacting Lucas Taylor at 304-788-6995; or 800-262-7332, ext. 6995 or by emailing Lucas at LSTaylor@mail.wvu.edu.  Your contributions, as always, are greatly appreciated.
