Lauren Rosedale added to Scholars’ Wall at Potomac State

Lauren Rosedale (center) was recently honored with the inscription of her name on the Duke Anthony Whitmore/Henry Louis Gates, Jr. Academic Achievement Wall.  Presenting the award were Campus President Leonard Colelli (right) and Connie Whitmore Kesecker. 

Lauren Rosedale was recently honored at Potomac State College during a special ceremony on Sunday, April 26, with the inscription of her name on the Duke Anthony Whitmore/Henry Louis Gates, Jr. Academic Achievement Wall.  The Scholars’ Wall was conceived in order to recognize the academic and scholarly achievements of students, alumni and faculty. 

Lauren is a recent PSC graduate from Keyser, W.Va. majoring in English.  She has always been passionate about learning and strives for academic excellence.

In addition to being nominated for the E. William Noland Outstanding Student Award, Lauren has been named to the President’s List and the Dean’s List for all semesters in which she’s attended Potomac State, she is also a member of the Sigma Phi Omega Honor Society.

Lauren earned the Promise Scholarship from the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission, is the recipient of the Orval Anderson Memorial Scholarship, the Dudley Gordon Memorial Scholarship, and the Janet Kalbaugh Scholarship. 

Lauren has served as a volunteer reader with AmeriCorps Energy Express, teaching basic reading skills to children between the ages of five and 12.  She has assisted mentors in the supervision of children, in serving food and in running activities. 

Lauren is also the primary caregiver to her severely autistic older brother which leaves little time for extracurricular activities.  However, she doesn’t let challenges in her life become obstacles and views her education as a privilege.
