Holiday Festival to be held at Potomac State

Preparations for the 16th Annual Holiday Festival at Potomac State College of West Virginia University are in full swing. The festival will be held in the Lough Gymnasium on Saturday, December 10th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and as in the past, all proceeds go to ‘Toys for Joy.’

Many types of crafts and gift items will be available, including candles, wooden home accents, wreaths, holiday decorations, country décor items, wickless candles, and handmade jewelry.

Representatives from Pampered Chef, Celebrating Home, Tastefully Simple, Avon, and 31 Purses and Totes will also be displaying and selling their goods.

A tasteful selection of food will be available for purchase. There will also be door prizes, a 50/50 drawing and entertainment.

The entertainment line-up includes: Dr. John Hawkins on the piano at 8:45 a.m.; Teal Steel under the direction of Fred Kesner at 10 a.m.; Singer Tammy Dalton at 11:30 a.m.; Singer Kris Lengel at 1 p.m.; and a yet to be named performance at 2 p.m.

“With so many people out of work right now requests for toys have increased; we’re accepting donations of cash and new toys,” said Dawn Downey who co-coordinates the event with her husband, Fred, both employees at the College.

A few vendor spaces are still available for a donation of $20 and a new toy. Anyone wanting a vendor space can contact Dawn at 304-788-6906.
