Hackworth Scholarship Established

A new scholarship has been created at Potomac State College of West Virginia University for Mineral County students. The “Skip Hackworth Scholarship” is in honor and recognition of Hackworth’s service to Mineral County students during his tenure as superintendent of Mineral County Schools. He served Mineral County the past nine years of his 41-year career in education. 

Retired Assistant Superintendant Pat Mason and Treasurer/Associate Superintendent Steve Peer were instrumental in establishing the scholarship. 

Potomac State Campus Provost Kerry Odell said, “Mr. Hackworth has been a staunch supporter of higher education, Potomac State College and the youth of Mineral County. We are pleased he is being honored in this manner.”
