Potomac State to kick off ‘Relay for Life’ Event
Potomac State College of West Virginia University will kick off its annual Relay for Life Event on Thursday, April 19 at 6 p.m. on the Campus Quad. Relay is an event to celebrate life and raise money for the American Cancer Society. Potomac State’s goal this year is to raise $10,000 which will help fund important cancer-defeating research, as well as local ACS cancer patient programs. The ‘Survivor’s Lap’ will begin at 6 p.m.
Frankfort Middle School’s Teal Steel Band, Jim House, Billy Gray, and NOTEfly will be performing during the evening. The Team C.U.R.E Cake Auction will take place around 7 p.m., with the Luminary Ceremony beginning at 9 p.m. Other games and activities, including "Relay Olympics," will be held throughout the night.
The event will offer great food, games, and entertainment. The night should prove to be a fun time for all ages.
A gift basket raffle is also being held, inclusive of a luxurious two-night weekend stay at any participating Omni Hotels & Resorts (including the renowned Bedford Springs Resort) valid until April 2013, his and hers Potomac State College of WVU robes, 1 lb. of hand dipped chocolates from Bedford Candies, a gift certificate for the Jean Bonnet Tavern in Bedford, PA, a bundle of relaxation productions, and a set of PSC mugs. The American Cancer Society funds over $100 million in cancer research each year and you can help make a difference! Potomac State cannot reach its fundraising goal of $10,000 without the community's help. Plan to attend and bring the whole family.
