Potomac State hires Smith as Residence Life Specialist
Potomac State College of West Virginia University (WVU) recently hired Sarah Smith for the position of residence life specialist.
Smith will serve as coordinator of Davis Hall where she will supervise all resident assistants (RA) programming across campus and will assist with student activities. Smith’s objective is to create stronger communities within the residence halls.
“My goal for RA programming is not only to build stronger communities, but also to use programming as a way to be able to teach students valuable life skills including communication, responsible decision making and creating mature interpersonal relationships,” said Smith.
Smith earned her Master of Arts degree in student affairs in higher education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Indiana, Pa. She graduated magna cum lade from Frostburg State University (FSU) in Frostburg, Md. where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in social science with minors in psychology and sociology.
Smith previously served as a program assistant for student activities at FSU and as a peer mentor for freshmen orientation courses. She also interned with programs to advance student success and with the social marketing and graphic design team.
