Potomac State Students awarded scholarships

Students at Potomac State College of West Virginia University were awarded the following scholarships for the 2011-2012 Academic terms.

Receiving the Ruth Ward Davis Memorial Nursing Scholarship are Cori Price of Ft. Ashby, W.Va., the daughter of Krista and William Price, Jr.; and Madison Shambaugh of Ridgeley, W.Va., the daughter of Steve and Karen Shambaugh.

The Ruth Ward Davis Memorial Nursing Scholarship was established in honor of long-time PSC Instructor Dr. Ruth Ann Davis's mother. The scholarship is awarded to pre-nursing students in good academic standing, with preference given to Mineral County residents.

The PSC Mountaineer Scholarship is awarded to students who exhibit above average ACT or SAT scores. Students receiving this scholarship include: Bryan Jackson of Keyser, W.Va., a mechanical engineering major and the son of David and Melinda Jackson; Matthew Shaffer of Ridgley, W.Va., a pre-physical therapy major and the son of Brenda and Robert Shaffer; and Brian Logsdon of Ridgeley, W.Va., a mechanical engineering major and the son of Brian and Wendy Logsdon.

Recipients of the Noah “Woody” Anderson Scholarship must be residents of Hampshire, Hardy or Mineral Counties. Those receiving this scholarship include: Ty Bowers, a general studies major from Fort Ashby, W.Va. and the son of Lisa and Darrel Bowers; Sarah Miller, a psychology major from Keyser, W.Va. and the daughter of George and Barbara Miller; and Dustin Bradshaw, an agronomy major from Ridgeley, W.Va. and son of Harry and Nellie Bradshaw.
