Potomac State College (PSC) of West Virginia University celebrated its 111th birthday on
February 15. The College was created on this date in 1901 as The Keyser Preparatory Branch
of West Virginia University by an act of the legislature. The bill’s passage came at the urging
of Mineral County Delegate Francis M. Reynolds who was concerned about the quality of the
secondary education in the area. Further information about the College’s founding is available
at http://www.potomacstatecollege.edu/about/a_century_of_excellence.html
In celebration
of this momentous occasion, birthday cake was served throughout the day to students and
PSC employees.
