Samuels recognized at Potomac State as Professor of the Year
Potomac State College of West Virginia University Campus Provost Kerry Odell (left) and Professor Jeff Jones, who also serves as chair of the Faculty Assembly, recently presented Professor Heidi Samuels with the “Outstanding Professor of the Year” award.
Heidi Samuels, assistant professor of criminal justice, was recently named as the “Outstanding Professor of the Year” for 2012 at Potomac State College of West Virginia University (WVU).
Samuels began her career at Potomac State in August 2006 as an instructor. In addition to teaching a 15-hour course load each semester, Samuels also serves as an academic adviser to more than 60 students, advises the Criminal Justice Club and teaches distance learning courses on the Web-CT.
Samuels is currently working on her dissertation through WVU’s doctoral program in Higher Education Leadership, focusing her research on student retention and academic advising.
Samuels received both her master’s degree in criminal justice with a minor in counseling rehabilitation and her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice with a minor in psychology and sociology from Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va.
