Jazz Concert to be held at Potomac State

The Potomac State College/Community Jazz Ensemble will present a Jazz Concert on Thursday, November 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the Church-McKee Arts Center on the campus of Potomac State College of West Virginia University.

The band, directed by Fred Kesner, will perform a variety of jazz styles and will feature several of the band’s outstanding soloists. The program will include arrangements by Sammy Nestico, Frank Mantooth, Lennie Niehaus, and Gordon Goodwin. To honor our veterans, the band will present “Amber Waves” a stirring arrangement of “America, the Beautiful”. Highlights will include the beautiful ballad, “Bein’ Green”, performed by Romney Middle School Band Director Will Nose on trombone.

Members of the band include Richard Frush, Roger Henry, Ed Cameron, Charlie Paskun, and Mike Pfaff on saxophones. The trumpet section is manned by Jon Bush, Fred Kesner and Phil Fertig. Trombone players include Will Nose, Lynn Zeller, Evan Coleman, and Dan Moreland. The rhythm section consists of Ed Morgret (piano), Jim Roderick (bass), Bart Lay (drums), and John Campbell (percussion).

The concert is free and the public is encouraged to attend and support the live performance of jazz and big band music in our community.
