Jazz Concert to be held at Potomac State on November 21
The Potomac State College/Community Jazz Ensemble will present a Jazz Concert on Thursday, November 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the Church-McKee Arts Center on the campus of Potomac State College of West Virginia University. The community is encouraged to attend this free event.
The band, directed by Fred Kesner, will perform a variety of jazz styles and will feature several of the band’s outstanding soloists.

Highlights will include a Mike Tomaro arrangement of the Beatles tune, “Blackbird” featuring Tom Simpson on jazz trumpet.
Pianist Ed Morgret, of Romney, will be featured on a soulful ballad entitled “Prayer Meetin’” and Keyser musician Jon Bush will be the soloist on “The Nearness of You.”
Members of the band include Richard Frush, Heather Williams, Ed Cameron, Charlie Paskun, and Mike Pfaff on saxophones. The trumpet section is manned by Jon Bush, Tom Simpson, Phil Fertig, and Christian Robinson. The trombone section features Will Nose, Lynn Zeller, Dan Moreland, and Herb Lambert. The rhythm section consists of Ed Morgret on piano, Jim Roderick on bass and Bart Lay on drums.
“I always encourage the public to attend and support the live performance of jazz and big band music in our community,” said Kesner.
