Mills appointed Head Athletic Trainer at Potomac State

Carita Mills has been appointed to the position of athletic trainer at Potomac State College of West Virginia University.

Mills will work closely with the various athletic teams at the College attending to the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports injuries.

Carita MillsMills earned her Bachelor of Science degree in athletic training from Frostburg State University where she gained more than 500 clinical hours as a student athletic trainer.   She earned her associate degree from Potomac State where she played on the women’s soccer team while a student, which generated her interest in athletic training.

Mills was certified by the Board of Certification in April and has a certificate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid. She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and the National Strength & Conditioning Association.

Volunteer work includes serving as a youth leader with MERGE Youth Group at Central Assembly of God and several mission trips to Jamaica where she, along with her husband and the mission team, helped build-up children's ministries as well as adult church attendance at various churches around the island.

Mills previously served as an assistant to the sports director at the YMCA in Cumberland, as the coordinator of Generation Fit; a youth, sports conditioning program and as a home school physical education instructor. She and her husband, Matthew, reside in Keyser.
