Van Meter Receives Hood Scholarship
Sabrina Van Meter, center, a sophomore criminal justice major at Potomac State College of West Virginia University, was recently presented with The James Hood Memorial Book Scholarship. This scholarship was created in honor of James (Jimmy) Hood, a former criminal justice major at Potomac State whose life was cut short as the result of an automobile accident. Hood’s classmates wanted to do something special in his memory and came up with the idea of creating a scholarship, so each year the Hood scholarship is awarded to a Potomac State student based on academic performance and participation in the Criminal Justice Club activities. Van Meter serves as secretary of the College’s Criminal Justice Club. She is also a member of the Campus and Community Ministries Club. She is graduated from the Union Educational Complex in Mount Storm, W.Va., She is the daughter of Theresa and Kevin Van Meter. Presenting the scholarship to Van Meter are Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice Heidi Samuels and Instructor Nicklaus Goff.
