Plitnik accepts instructor position at Potomac State
Potomac State College of West Virginia University (WVU) would like to announce the appointment of Brian Plitnik, DMA, to the position of visiting instructor of music at the College.
Plitnik earned both his doctor of musical arts and his master’s in music from WVU. He earned his undergraduate degree in music performance from Frostburg State University.
Plitnik has performed with the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra, the West Virginia Brass Quintet, West Virginia Public Theatre, the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, the Maryland Symphony Orchestra, Singer Bobby Vinton, and the national touring band, Rick K. and the All-Nighters.
Additionally, he has performed with many high school, college and community theatre groups and has served as an adjudicator at auditions, arts academies and festivals as well as an instructor and conductor.
Plitnik was awarded the 2013 ‘College of Creative Arts Award for Adjunct Faculty Excellence’ from WVU where he currently serves as a trombone instructor and director of trombone ensembles as well.
He previously served as a faculty member at Frostburg State University and as the brass instructor at the Cumberland Music Academy in Cumberland, Md.
