Elliott McCummings named ‘Male Athlete of the Year’


Elliott McCummings (center), from West Deptford, N.J., was named the ‘2014 Male Athlete of the Year’ during the 27th Annual Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet at Potomac State College of West Virginia University.

McCummings, a two-year starter in right field for the Potomac State Baseball team, was a 2nd Team All-American recipient as a freshman and was also a two-time 1st Team All-Region XX performer.  In his freshman campaign he had a batting average of .394 with 13 doubles, 57 runs batted in and 50 runs scored.  This past season McCummings helped lead the Catamounts to a 38-13 record as he hit .387 with 13 doubles, 51 runs scored and 37 runs batted in, with an on-base percentage of .474.  President Leonard Colelli (right) and Athletic Director Shawn White presented the award.
