Potomac State College to present ‘Christmas Concert’ Dec.2
The Potomac State College-Community Concert Band will present its annual Christmas Concert on Tuesday, December 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the Church-McKee Arts Center Auditorium. The band, which is under the direction of D. Lynn Zeller, consists of 44 members which includes students and community members. There is no admission charge and the public is invited to attend.
The concert will open with “Fanfare and Flourishes for a Festive Occasion” by James Curnow. Next, “Chorale Presto” by Richard Saucedo will be performed, followed by “O Magnum Mysterium” by Morton Lauridsen and transcribed by H. Robert Reynolds.
Second Suite for Military Band in F Major by Gustav Holst will include the following movements: “March,” “Song Without Words ‘I’ll Love My Love,’” “Song of the Blacksmith,”and “Fantasia on the Dargason.”
The concert will end with the following traditional Christmas selections: “The Glory of Christmas” arranged by Elliott Del Borgo, “White Christmas” by Irvin Berlin and scored by Robert Russell Bennett, “Winterfest” by Stephen Bulla, and for the final selection, Leroy Anderson's classic arrangement of “Sleigh Ride.”
What better way to begin the season than with an entertaining evening of music, which also supports the arts in our area.
