Potomac State Weekend of Honors to be Held April 22-26

The College will celebrate its 10th Annual Weekend of Honors from April 22-26. Leading the events this year is the celebration for the Outstanding Staff Person of the Year on Wednesday, April 22. Faculty and staff are invited to attend from 1:30 to 3 p.m., in the Davis Conference Center. The Outstanding Professor of the Year celebration will be held Thursday, April 23, from 4 to 6 p.m., at the Candlewyck Restaurant. Faculty and staff are invited and are asked to RSVP to Cindy Hartman, at Cynthia.Hartman@mail.wvu.edu by Thursday, April 16th.

On Friday, April 24 from 3-4 p.m. there will be an Open House of the newly constructed Baseball Clubhouse at Golden Park.  The campus community and public are invited to tour the facility and enjoy some light refreshments.

Also on Friday, the Women's Lacrosse team will play at the new Stayman Field against West Virginia Wesleyan at 6:00 p.m.

Saturday, April 25 will offer a variety of activities including a double-header baseball game at Golden Park, pitting the PSC Catamounts against Monroe College with a starting time of noon.  Also this year, the “GOLD RUSH”, last seen in 2009, returns with giveaways and an opportunity to win a 32” ultra slim RCA HDTV. Again, this event is free and open to the campus community and the public.

The Softball team will host the College of Southern Maryland for a twin bill on Saturday and then host Cecil College on Sunday.  Both doubleheaders begin at 1:00 p.m.

Later that evening, the College will recognize former as well as current student athletes during their 28th Athletic Hall of Fame banquet.  Alumni being inducted this year include, Jerry Mahoney, ’75; Mike Duvall, ’95; and Kevin Schnall, ’97.

Social hour is at 6 p.m. with dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m.  The cost is $20 per person.

On Sunday, April 26, The Scholars’ Wall and Recognition Day Ceremony will begin at 2:30 p.m. in the Church-McKee Arts Center. The campus community and public are invited to this event.

The Sigma Phi Omega Banquet begins at 5 p.m. in the Davis Conference Center. The Sigma Phi Omega Banquet also requires reservations and should be made through Vicki Huffman at 304-788-6971. The cost is $15 per person. The deadline for making reservations is also Friday, April 17.
