Potomac State offering Special Interest Class in drawing
Potomac State College of West Virginia University will be offering a special interest course in Pencil Portrait Drawing beginning April 10 through May 8. The class will meet in Science Hall, Room 108 on Fridays from 6 – 9 p.m.
Among the things participants will learn, are how to draw simple shapes and angles, classic proportions and measuring the face using various angles. Students will also discover the intricacies of drawing the nose, mouth and eyes to look life-like and how to use shading techniques in order to create volume.
The course is being taught by Artist Sandra Wright and is directed toward individuals of all drawing levels. Wright specializes in family portraits using charcoal, oil and pastels, but enjoys landscapes and wildlife scenery as well. She is the recipient of multiple awards and ribbons and has had numerous showings in various art galleries including at the Cultural Center in Charleston, W.Va., Tamarack in Beckley, W.Va. and the Colley Gallery in Leesburg, Va. to name a few.
