Auditions announced for Potomac State Production of Mary Poppins
Potomac State College of West Virginia University announces auditions for Disney’s “Mary Poppins”. Try outs for the musical production will be held at The Church-McKee Arts Center on campus at Keyser, West Virginia.
Audition dates are Friday, January 16 at 7:00 pm and Saturday, January 17 at 2:00 pm. Participants should prepare 16 bars of music. An accompanist will be provided. Those seeking a lead role should be ready to sing that character’s song from the show. People interested in the ensemble should prepare any song that shows off their voice. Individuals only need to attend one of the audition dates.
Especially needed is a strong dancing ensemble, especially tap dancers, for the various production numbers. Also needed are 2 children for the roles of Michael and Jane Banks, ages 9-12.
Rehearsals will begin January 19 with show dates slated for March 19-29.
Directing the show is Tom Valentine with music director Craig Schutz. Orchestra director is Dr. Brian Plitnik, rehearsal pianist Marianne Schutz, and choreographer Kimberli Rowley.
