Potomac State to hold FAFSA workshop on College Goal Sunday February 15
Potomac State College of West Virginia University will once again be offering a free FAFSA workshop on ‘College Goal Sunday’ which is being held February 15 from 1 to 4 p.m. in Academy Hall, Room 309.
Computers and financial aid staff will be available to assist with completing and electronically submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The priority deadline for completion of the FAFSA is March 1, 2015. Individuals attending the College Goal Sunday event will also be entered to win a Samsung tablet being given away that day.
Participants will need the following information to complete the worksheet and/or the 2015-2016 FAFSA:
- Social Security number for the student and the student’s parents if required to provide parental information.
- Driver’s license if the student has one.
- Federal income tax information or tax returns for 2014, including IRS W-2 forms for the student and spouse if the student is married or for the student’s parents if required to provide parental information. If the 2014 federal tax information is not yet available, the student can still complete the FAFSA, indicating a ‘will-file’ status by estimating their 2014 financial information, and then providing the correct information when the 2014 federal tax returns are completed.
- Information on savings, investments, businesses, and farm assets for the student and parents, if required to provide parental information.
To receive student financial aid for college, a FAFSA must be completed every school year. The quickest way to complete and submit the FAFSA is electronically through the official FAFSA Web site.
