Bernadette Capaldi, who serves as an administrative assistant in the Business Office at Potomac State College of West Virginia University, was recognized for her exceptional service to the College when she was named the ‘2015 Outstanding Staff Person of the Year’ during the recent Weekend of Honors.
According to her peers, “Bernie is willing to go the extra mile to get things accomplished and even offers to help others in her office when their work load gets out of hand, even though her own is often overwhelming. She’s dependable, efficient, self-sacrificing, and is well-respected by the campus community.”
Capaldi began her career as a part-time employee in the telephone office in 1998 but soon moved to full-time employment with student accounts and purchasing. She has served in her current position since 2004.
Capaldi also attended Potomac State as a student, graduating in 1983 with an associate degree in accounting and a minor in computer science. She is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in business management.
Capaldi, who was born in Germany, moved to the Keyser area in 1980 with her husband, Steve. They are the parents of two children, Katie, who will begin her master’s degree at WVU this fall; and Cole, a current student at Potomac State.
Capaldi is the daughter of John and Anna Laub of Hagerstown, Md.
