Niland accepts Nursing position at Potomac State
Potomac State College of West Virginia University (WVU) is pleased to announce that Diana Niland has accepted the position of nurse practitioner at the College.
In this position, Niland will provide additional health care services to students through the College Health Center and will also work with an external consultant to help develop an ADN to BSN pathway program in nursing.
Niland also currently works for WVU Medicine-Potomac Valley Hospital and enjoys the unique role of working between the two entities. “This is a very exciting time for Nurse Practitioners (NP). There are many new roles being developed for NP’s in order to meet the demands of the many challenges in health care. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to work with both Potomac State College and with Potomac Valley Hospital,” observed Niland.
Niland has years of nursing experience, having previously served as the staff development coordinator at Potomac Valley Hospital in Keyser and as a nurse in the Same Day Surgery Unit. Prior to that she worked as a substitute school nurse for the Mineral County Board of Education and as a staff nurse in the Med/Surg & Telemetry Unit with the Western Maryland Health System, Memorial Campus.
Niland earned her associate in nursing from Allegany College of Maryland and both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from WVU. She is currently pursuing her doctorate degree at WVU as well.
Niland is board certified as a family nurse practitioner with the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She is licensed as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse with both the West Virginia Board of Nursing and the Maryland Board of Nursing.
Niland lives in Fort Ashby with her husband, Steve and has three children: Zac, who lives in Morgantown and attends WVU; Kent, who attends Frankfort Middle School; and Morgan, who attends Frankfort Intermediate School.
