Pelosi accepts CIS position at Potomac State

Potomac State College of West Virginia University is pleased to announce that Michael J. Pelosi, Ph.D., has accepted the position of assistant professor of Computer Information Systems at the College.

In this position, Dr. Pelosi will be teaching both associate- and bachelor- degree-level CIS courses including programming logic, Linux operating systems, networking, computer forensics, and principles of management information systems, among many others.  

"IT is one of the few bright spots in the economy, and the long-term job outlook is good as well.  Most of the jobs in IT offer good career paths as well as above-average benefits and security.  It is a pleasure to be teaching for Potomac State College in this area," said Dr. Pelosi.

Dr. Pelosi began his teaching career in 1994 at the University of Hawaii Maui College and the University of Hawaii West Oahu, both located in Hawaii.

He has since taught at University of Maryland University College (Md.); Campbell University (NC); Post University (Conn.); Colorado Technical University (Colo.); Trident University International (Calif.); Columbia Southern University (Ala.); and Southern New Hampshire University (NH).

He has taught courses in software engineering, information technology, analysis, design, and virtual game environments at the bachelor's, master's and doctoral level.  Altogether over 170 college sections and 53 varieties of courses taught.

Dr. Pelosi has authored (and/or co-authored) several articles in numerous journals including: Applied Artificial Intelligence Journal, Journal on Systemics; Cybernetics and Informatics; International Journal of Advanced Research in Computer Science and Software Engineering; AIAA Journal of Aerospace Information Systems; and Air Power Australia Technical Reports among others.  He also serves as the associate editor of the Journal of Software Engineering Practice, an open-source journal.

He has also presented at national and international conferences, to the U.S. Department of Energy, and has years of research experience. Dr. Pelosi holds three U.S. patents and was a specialist in the solar energy photovoltaics area for several years after founding Maui Solar Energy Software Corporation.

Dr. Pelosi earned his Ph.D. in computer information systems from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. He earned his master of business administration, master of public administration, and his bachelor’s degree in business administration from City University of Seattle in Bellevue, Wash. Dr. Pelosi also served in the U.S. army with the 3rd Armored Division and with the 2nd. Armored Division.
