PSC to Host “The Joy of Robert’s Rules of Order and Being an Effective Board Member” Workshop Oct. 9th
Potomac State College of West Virginia University will host the workshop entitled, “The Joy of Robert’s Rules of Order and Being an Effective Board Member,” Friday, Oct. 9, from 9 a.m. to noon in the Davis Conference Center. Presenters will be Loring Prest and Michael Brna. The public is invited to attend. The cost will be $55 per person.
This workshop will review the basics of Robert’s Rules of Order and will demonstrate how this procedure can actually improve meetings. As an added bonus, presenters will also review behaviors of both ineffective and effective board members examining how the principles of small group facilitation and effective listening can make individuals better contributors in and out of the board room.
This workshop is part of the Regional Leadership Series, developed by The Greater Cumberland Committee and the four sponsoring education institutions including Allegany College of Maryland, Frostburg State University, Garrett College, and Potomac State College of WVU. The 2015 four-course series focuses on leadership behavior, customer service, new leadership techniques, and influence with the goal to help civic and corporate leaders make positive, sustainable change in the regional community.
Each workshop is held at one college or university on the second Friday of each month concluding in December.
Remaining workshops include:
- Managing Change and Stress, presented by Dr. Michael Monahan, will be held on Friday, November 13, at Frostburg State University. This course will examine various models for dealing with both organizational and personal change.
- Finally, on Friday, December 11, Allegany College of MD will host the topic of Mediation and Conflict Resolution, presented by Phyllis Anderson. This course is designed to explore conflict and conflict resolution in our society.
