Schwertfeger, Sproule Named Potomac State College’s Outstanding Male Athletes of the Year

During the annual Athletic Hall of Fame banquet at Potomac State College (PSC) of West Virginia University, Students Russell Schwertfeger and Alec Sproule were recognized as Outstanding Male Athletes of the Year for 2016. 

Schwertfeger is a general studies major from Bethany, W.Va. who served in the position of outfielder on the Catamount Baseball team under the direction of Head Coach Doug Little.  His overall stats include: 49 runs, 9 doubles, 7 triples, 5 home runs, 33 RBIs, 15 walks, and an impressive .433 batting average.

Sproule is a geology major from Umina Beach, Australia.  He plays in the position of goal keeper on the men’s soccer team under the direction Head Coach Ray Kiddy.  He had 22 goals against, 8 wins and 70 saves for a .761 percentage.  Sproule was named NJCAA Academic All-American and 1st Team All-American; NSCAA Academic All-American and 1st Team All-American; and 1st Team All-Region XX.
