Learn More About Potomac State’s Hospitality (Culinary) Degree at Special Demo, Info Session May 18th
Potomac State College of West Virginia University will host a special demonstration and information session for prospective students, both traditional and nontraditional, who are interested in learning more about the College’s fast-track, Hospitality (Culinary) Program. This event will be held Wednesday, May 18, from 1 to 3 p.m., in the Hospitality Demo Kitchen in the Agriculture Tech Building, located on Parkview Drive near the Upper College Farm.
In the Hospitality (Culinary) Program, students earn an associate of applied science degree in two years. This program teaches skills used in the hospitality industry with a strong emphasis on the culinary arts, including knife skills and the knowledge of classical techniques, meat and seafood fabrication, garde manager, baking and pastries, and several international cuisines through hands-on learning.
Students also learn sanitation practices, first aid, cost control, nutrition, menu planning, restaurant management, constructive writing of resumes, and the marketing of current trends in culinary and the hospitality industry.
Through a required externship, students will gain real world experience.
Career opportunities in the culinary industry include employment in upscale resorts, hotels, free-standing restaurants, catering companies, or self-employment
