NWTF Hunting Heritage Banquet being held at Potomac State Feb. 28

In conjunction with the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF), the Tink Smith Collegiate Chapter at WVU Potomac State will hold their 3rd Annual Hunting Heritage Banquet on Tuesday, February 28 at the Davis Conference Center.  Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The tentative menu for the banquet includes: breaded stuffed chicken breast with gravy or sliced top round of beef with gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, tossed salad, and dessert. NWTF

Additionally, there will be a silent auction and live auction during the evening with several firearms available.  Anyone wanting to donate items for the auctions can do so by contacting Jeff Jones, club advisor and associate professor at the College at 304-788-6986 or at  jwjones@mail.wvu.edu .

The Tink Smith Collegiate Chapter is the first collegiate chapter of the NWTF in West Virginia and was so-named after the late Glen “Tink” Smith, a life-time resident of Keyser and wild turkey enthusiast who was highly recognized for his contributions to wildlife photography, especially his photographs of the wild turkey. 

Smith was also the recipient of many awards, most notably: First Place in The National Wild Turkey Federation photography contest in 1982, being named West Virginia Sportsman of the Year in 1983, designated as West Virginia’s Foremost Wildlife Photographer in 1984, and was also recognized with the National Wild Turkey Federation’s C. B. McLeod Distinguished Service Award for Outstanding Support Through the Media and Wild Turkey Photographs in 1988.
