Potomac State hosts National Wildlife Turkey Federation (NWTF) youth event
National Wildlife Turkey Federation (NWTF) members, brothers Carl Kief and Jerry Kief, both from Martinsburg, W.Va., demonstrate an assortment of their handcrafted turkey calls at the First Annual Tink Smith Collegiate Chapter of the NWTF Catamount Juniors Acquiring Knowledge, Ethics and Sportsmanship (JAKES) Showcase recently held on the Potomac State College of West Virginia University campus in the J. Edward Kelley Center. Looking on and learning about turkey calling are Mike Wyatt and his two sons, 11-year-old Hayden and Nolan, age 8, all from Keyser. The event offered supervised activities and seminars for youth up to 18 years old including turkey calling, archery, turkey hunting safety, NWTF JAKES Take Aim Air Rifle Range, fish identification, fly fishing/fly tying, hunter safety, water safety, scavenger hunt, trapping demonstration, predator calling, and natural resource law enforcement.
