Potomac State College awarded grant for ‘Pizza Oven Project’

West Virginia University Potomac State College has been selected to receive a FY19 Specialty Crop Block Program grant in the amount of approximately $25,000.  These funds will be utilized for the “Potomac State College Mobile Farm-to-Pizza Oven Project” as part of the SAGE (Sustainable Agriculture Entrepreneurship) program.  

As a result of this grant, the SAGE program will obtain an innovative, mobile, ‘turn-key’ pizza oven that will be used to increase the overall production of specialty crops while educating youth in our region about value-added, farm-grown products.

WVU School of Nursing BSN Program on Potomac State College Campus Now Accepting Applications Through January 15, 2020

The WVU School of Nursing Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program on the Potomac State College campus in Keyser, W.Va., is accepting applications for fall 2020 admission. The application period spans through January 15, 2020.  Acceptance into the program is competitive and spaces are limited to 24 students each fall.

WVU Potomac State College Bands to present Holiday Concert

The West Virginia University Potomac State College Community Concert Band and Jazz Ensemble will perform a joint Holiday Concert on Wednesday, December 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the Church-McKee Arts Center Auditorium.  The concert is free and open to the public.

The Concert Band will perform a variety of selections beginning with Derek Bourgeois' "Sleigh Bells."  The band will also perform "Star of Bethlehem" by John Williams; "Christmas Medley" arranged by Charlie and Rhoades Whitehill; "Rhapsody for Hanukkah" arranged by Stephen Bulla, and "Wassail!" arranged by Harry Stone.

Potomac State College/Community Jazz Ensemble to present free jazz concert

The West Virginia University Potomac State College/Community Jazz Ensemble will present a big band jazz concert on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the Church-McKee Arts Center on the campus of Potomac State College. The band will perform a variety of big band jazz styles and will feature many of the band’s outstanding soloists. 

The Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Fred Kesner, rehearses weekly at the College and is comprised of the area’s finest jazz musicians.  Saxophone section members include Richard Frush, Brent Weber, Bill Green, Ed Cameron, and Mike Pfaff.  The trumpet section consists of Jay Moon, Cameron King, Bill AuMiller, and David Wall.

Potomac State Basketball to Host Catamount Madness

The West Virginia University Potomac State College Women’s and Men’s Basketball teams will host Catamount Madness, Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 6 p.m. in the Lough Gymnasium.

The Catamount Madness showcase will begin with traditional “meet the squad” introductions of the Potomac State women’s and men’s teams. Following introductions, a series of events are scheduled to entertain the fans and display the talents of the team members including 3-point shootouts and a dunk contest.
