“Potomac State is so near and dear to my heart. I am so grateful to the College for giving me the opportunity to obtain such an excellent education for continued success at other universities. Here I was, a very shy high school student, but all that changed when I attended Potomac State and took Dr. Betty Atwater’s speech class. She brought me out of my shell.”
-Margaret E. Vorous
Member of The Church Society
Dr. Ernest E. Church and his wife Katharine, were part of the fabric of Potomac State for decades, and both often emphasized the importance of private support to the college.
Dr. Church was Potomac State’s second president and sixth head of the college, serving from 1936 to 1964. During his tenure, he was instrumental in increasing enrollment from 260 students to 800 pupils. He was responsible for expanding course offerings, growing the faculty from 16 to 47 members, and establishing the college’s Alumni Association and Alumni Foundation.
Dr. and Mrs. Church were both instrumental in an impressive 28-year period of institutional growth. Early in 2000, Mrs. Church gratefully granted permission to recognize the generosity of those who made planned gifts to Potomac State as members of The Church Society. *No minimum gift amount is required and all gift information is kept confidential

Benefits of Planned Giving
There are creative ways to support Potomac State College; ways in which PSC, you and your loved ones all benefit at the same time. Such giving techniques are called "planned gifts," because with thoughtful planning, you create win-win solutions for you and Potomac State College. For example:
1) You can make a gift that costs nothing during your lifetime.
2) You can give stock and realize larger tax savings.
3) You can get quarterly income for life in return for your gift.
4) You can donate your house, continue to live there, and get a tax break all at the same time.
