After three days and 50 hours, Infinity Processing and Flux Iron overcame a field of 30 students in six teams to win  WV Forward’s inaugural Impact Challenge Weekend competition held at  West Virginia University’s  LaunchLab in  Evansdale Crossing. 

“The real winner is West Virginia,” said Frank Vitale, one of the judges. 

West Virginia University Potomac State College will recognize various individuals during Homecoming festivities this fall.  Among those being honored at the awards banquet on September 28th is Charles H. Bishop, Jr., PhD (1958), who will be recognized with the Alumni Achievement Award in acknowledgement of his accomplishments.

Kevin Clark, Class of 2009, will be honored with West Virginia University Potomac State College’s “Young Alumni Award” in recognition of his accomplishments.

WVU Potomac State College offers busy Homecoming weekend

Mark your calendars for West Virginia University Potomac State College’s 2019 Homecoming and Family Weekend, to be held Friday, Sept. 27 through Saturday, Sept. 28.  A variety of activities and events have been scheduled for Family Weekend, Discover PSC Day and the annual Alumni Awards Banquet.

“I am thrilled to announce that George Grove and I have teamed up with Jerry Siggins, a fabulous lead baritone, to form a new trio, the Folk Legacy Trio (briefly called, The Folk Legends)” says Rick Dougherty.

“George and I were most recently members of the Kingston Trio; George was with them for a few weeks short of 41 years, and I for 12. Jerry was a member of the Dapper Dans, the famous barbershop quartet that performed at Disneyland for 15 years in California, Florida and Tokyo. He then sang for five years with an Irish band, and for the past 27 years he has been singing lead with the famous 50s group, The Diamonds. Jerry brings all that experience and his wonderful voice to the new trio and we can't wait for you to hear how those harmonies ring out,” says Dougherty.

WVU Potomac State College will host a Discover Day open house event Saturday, Sept. 28, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the campus in Keyser, W.Va. An assortment of engaging activities and events are scheduled to give students the opportunity to experience college first-hand. Local musicians in the Pan Jammin’ Steel Drum Band will usher in the new season for Highland Arts Unlimited with a free concert at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 22 at the Church-McKee Arts Center on the campus of Potomac State College in Keyser. 

Even if you’ve taken the class before, there are still things to learn. West Virginia University Potomac State College will once again offer the continuing education course, “ Stepping into Grapes and Grains” this fall. 

PSC Professors Donna Ballard and Tom Sydow will explore and present the basic knowledge and skills associated with the home production of wines and beers as participants have fun learning the fundamentals of fermentation, the availability of grapes and other fruits, and the difference between wine, lagers and ales.
