The Active Minds club is holding a Ribbon ceremony next Thursday, September 30th at 5:30 at Tatiana "Trixie" Edmond’s tree (in front of Lough gymnasium). The ceremony is to honor the memory of Tatiana and Jeremy Upton (student who died by suicide last fall 2020), as well as other friends and family members of the Potomac State College community who have died by suicide. We are asking students to wear purple or teal that day for Suicide awareness and prevention and we will be giving out ribbons on the quad from 12-2. At the Ribbon ceremony, students will be given "In Memory" tags to write the name of a loved one who has died by suicide. Ribbons/tags will then be hung from the tree.
As we near the end of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, please know that having mental health support is key in helping prevent suicide, which us the second leading cause of death for college aged students. If you or someone you care about is thinking or planning suicide, there is help! Call 800-273–TALK (8255) or text WVU to 741741. You are not alone. You matter!
