COMMITTEE CHARGE
The Faculty Welfare Committee will:
- review, study, and make appropriate recommendations for all problems and needs of current faculty;
- recommend policy regarding employment, salaries, compensation, benefits, evaluations, rank, tenure, leave, dismissal, equity, and workload of faculty members;
- establish standards for faculty performance at each rank, criteria for the promotion to rank, and criteria for the awarding of tenure;
- establish guidelines for the development and monitor implementation of faculty development programs which enhance performance in teaching, scholarly activity, and service;
- encourage Ideas and Issues programming and its funding;
- review and recommend action regarding individual proposals for faculty development;
- support the overall atmosphere of the college by fostering activities to maintain or boost faculty morale;
- review instances of alleged violation of established policy;
- solicit nominations, evaluate applications, and select the recipient of the Outstanding Professor Award;
- solicit nominations, evaluate applications, and select our campus nominee to the WVU Foundation Outstanding Teaching Awards Selections Committee.
- Faculty Welfare Committee will be completing the revisions of the Constitution and Governance Charter.
- Faculty Welfare Committee will also finish work on the Faculty Advising Handbook. Chair will provide a timeline to FEC once the first meeting has been held.
