Happy New Year Alumni!
At WVU Potomac State College, we have so much to be happy about! I am excited as
we move forward in the new year.
First, I want to officially welcome our new Campus President, Dr. Jerry Wallace to
Potomac State College. He and his family are settling into the President’s House
on campus and are enjoying exploring the community. He has hit the ground running
with new ideas, energy, and enthusiasm.
He has committed to the mission of Potomac State College by focusing on improving
student outcomes, fostering a vibrant environment for learning, and by building
partnerships that are beneficial to students and the community. There will be lots
of opportunities for you to meet him, but in the meantime, I encourage you to follow
him on
LinkedIn and welcome him to PSC.
In addition, I want to thank Dr. Wallace and his wife, Allyson, for donating $25,000
to start “The Wallace Brothers WVU PSC Athletic Staff Support Fund.” The gift was
inspired by the Wallace Brothers, consisting of Dr. Jerry Wallace (the youngest),
Marcus (the middle brother), and Lawrence Jr. (the eldest).
Lawrence played basketball at Central Michigan University while Jerry and Marcus
played basketball at Grand Valley State University. All three brothers earned master’s
degrees and are graduates of Grand Valley State University. The gift will be utilized
as a discretionary fund to assist PSC sports teams with travel, special projects,
tournaments, and equipment.
Also, if you haven’t heard, we are having a—
party!
Potomac State College is turning 124 years old on Saturday, February 15, but since
that date falls on a weekend, we are celebrating on Monday, February 17. Join the
celebration from 5:00 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the North Branch Brewing Company, on 101
Armstrong Street, in Keyser. Enjoy birthday cake, meet Dr. Wallace, and connect
with other Alumni and PSC friends. I hope to see you there!
I know that Potomac State College has touched you in some way along your life’s journey.
For me, it is where I started my higher education journey. Please consider giving
back by serving on the Alumni Association Board of Directors. The board meets quarterly,
it’s not a huge time commitment and we need new members and ideas! Feel free to
email me at
psc-alumni@mail.wvu.edu, if you are willing to volunteer or if you have questions.
I’d love to hear from you!
Lastly, Day of Giving is Wednesday, March 26, and we need your support. There are
lots of ways that you can get involved. You can be an ambassador. Learn more
here. Also, you can donate to the numerous funds that support Potomac State
college. Donations are accepted
online. Thank you in advance for your support of Potomac State College.
Wishing you the all the best in 2025.
Let’s go, Catamounts!
