Kevin Clark, Class of 2009, was honored with West Virginia University Potomac State
College’s “Young Alumni Award” in recognition of his accomplishments.
Clark has served as the executive director of the Mineral County Development Authority
since 2014. He directs all aspects of the development authority’s operations including
strategic planning and implementation, program development, marketing, industrial
park acquisitions and development, brownfields clean up, and coordination of incentive
packages.
As part of a community service project, incoming freshmen this semester spent time packing 3,200 bags for Food for Thought, a local nonprofit organization that collects food for elementary and middle-school students in Mineral County. Approximately 400 students are sent home each weekend with a food packet containing items such as crackers, cereals, noodles, mac-n-cheese, pudding cups, and cookies. The freshmen packed enough food packets to provide students with eight weeks’ worth of food.

The
WVU School of Nursing BSN Program Class of 2022, located on the WVU Potomac
State College campus, in Keyser, W.Va., recently participated in their White
Coat and Pledge Ceremony. The purpose of the ceremony is to celebrate
students’ entry into the study of nursing and highlight their commitment to
professionalism, humanism, and compassion in their clinical studies.
Additionally, students were given a humanism pin to remind them of the
commitment they are making. This year, the ceremony was made possible by a
grant from the Arnold P. Gold Foundation-American Association of Colleges of
Nurses.

“High
School Musical”
is about two teenagers Troy Bolton, a popular high school athlete and Gabriella
Montez, an academically (think nerdy) gifted girl, who meet at a party while
singing karaoke on New Year’s Eve. Troy soon discovers that Gabriella is
a new student in his high school. They quickly develop a friendship, but
not everyone is happy about that because it threatens the social order of the
high school. As Troy and Gabriella try to direct their friends to a more
open-minded way of thinking and acceptance, they … oops! Let’s not give
away the whole plot.
