Dear PSC Alumni and Friends,
It is a pleasure to recognize and celebrate several remarkable gifts totaling more than $650,000 to WVU Potomac State College, all of which reflect our alumni’s dedication to fostering educational opportunities and honoring loved ones through philanthropy.
- Mountain Streams Music Celebration — Building Community One Song at a Time
Our recent Mountain Streams Music Celebration was a resounding success! With more than 100 attendees, the evening brought our community together in a celebration of music and support for WVU Potomac State College Athletics and Mountain Streams Radio. Guests enjoyed performances from Dakota Karper, Critton Hollow, Buffalo Run, and the WVU Bluegrass Band at the Church-McKee Arts Center, with proceeds benefitting both our athletics program and local radio.
“It was indeed a pleasure to hear wonderful music and see all the people who enjoyed the evening. I am grateful to the PSC staff and the WVU Music Business and Industry program for their excellent work to make the event a success. Many thanks to our guest musicians and the WVU Bluegrass & Old Time Music Band,” stated, Dr. Paul Kreider, Interim President, WVU Potomac State College.
- New! Glenn F. and Bonnie R. Miller Scholarship
The Glenn F. and Bonnie R. Miller Scholarship supports students from the George’s Creek area, primarily those attending Mountain Ridge High School. Glenn Miller, a 1969 Potomac State graduate, established this scholarship to assist students with financial need. Glenn and Bonnie’s story exemplifies the impact of Potomac State scholarships, as Bonnie herself relied on financial aid to attend Potomac State before achieving academic and professional success.
- Strengthened Scholarships: Charles I. "Skip" and Nancy J. Homan and the Dulin Memorial Scholarship
Both the Homans and George K. Oss have recently expanded their support for Potomac State students. Skip and Nancy Homan, alumni from the class of 1963, increased the endowment for their scholarship with a planned gift, benefiting Keyser High School graduates pursuing civil engineering or STEM fields. Likewise, George K. Oss has pledged to strengthen the Dulin Memorial Scholarship, demonstrating a profound commitment to the advancement of future generations by providing full tuition support for a single student each year pursuing their associate degree.
- Bench Dedication by Dr. Mark Manchin
Dr. Mark Manchin, President of Glenville State University and recipient of the WVU Potomac State Alumni Achievement Award, has generously funded a bench dedication in memory of his late wife, Virginia "Gigi" Manchin. This thoughtful contribution not only commemorates her legacy but also serves as a lasting reminder of Dr. Manchin’s strong ties to Potomac State and his commitment to honoring family and community.
- New Partnership: Potomac Valley Transit Authority
We are excited to announce a new partnership with the Potomac Valley Transit Authority from Petersburg, WV, which has provided a generous in-kind gift of transportation support. This partnership ensures our PSC athletic students can travel to and from sports events, enhancing their athletic experience and strengthening community connections.
Each of these gifts is managed for WVU Potomac State in partnership with the WVU Foundation College, the principal fundraising organization supporting West Virginia University and its affiliates. The Foundation is dedicated to managing, stewarding, and growing private contributions to ensure each donation has a maximum impact on educational initiatives and student success. Working alongside the Foundation, I can assist you in creating a legacy aligned with your giving goals and Potomac State’s mission.
We extend our deepest gratitude to these donors for their meaningful contributions, which honor cherished memories and create new opportunities for students at WVU Potomac State College. Thank you for being a part of our community and helping make these achievements possible.
