Commencement invitations are available for sale in the College Bookstore.

Graduation Practice

Commencement Ceremony

The College’s 120th Annual Commencement Ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the Church-McKee Arts Center. Graduates and their families and friends are encouraged to attend. 

Instructions for Students

Line up at the Arts Wing by 10:30 a.m. It is extremely important that you be on time. Should an emergency arise that prevents you from attending graduation or you do not wish to participate, please notify the Office of Enrollment Services at  (304) 788-6820 or psc-records@mail.wvu.edu.

Reception

Students and their guests are cordially invited to attend an outdoor reception immediately following the commencement ceremony at the Church-McKee Arts Center plaza. In case of inclement weather, the location will be changed to the Davis Conference Center. 

Graduation Photos

A photographer from GradImages will be available for individual photos of the diploma-granting portion of the ceremony.

Can't Make it to the Ceremony In-Person? No Problem — There Will be a Livestream of Commencement.

There will be a Livestream of the commencement ceremony for guests unable to attend in person. Visit go.wvu.edu/psc-gradstream on the day of the event. 

Cap and Gowns

Caps and gowns should be ordered online by April 6 which is the deadline for regalia to be shipped to home addresses. If you do not order your cap and gown online prior to April 6, please contact the PSC Bookstore immediately by visiting in-person or calling them at 304-788-6908 .

Honor Cords for Veterans and Active Military Personnel

Potomac State will formally recognize current and former military personnel who are participating in commencement. Red, white and blue cords will be made available to service members at the Office of Enrollment Services. If the student is not currently receiving VA educational benefits, the student will need to bring documentation of military service.

Cords may be worn over academic regalia during the ceremony.

Accessibility Services

Graduates or guests needing accessibility services, including Sign Language Interpreting, should contact Mary Connor at 304-788-7405 or Mcconnor@mail.wvu.edu at least three business days prior to the ceremony.

Transcripts

Requests must be submitted for official transcripts to be sent. Check out  go.wvu.edu/psctranscripts  for more information. A $12 charge will be assessed for each official transcript.  

Students changing their campus to WVU Morgantown do not need to request that a transcript be sent since we share a student-information system.

Diplomas

Diplomas will be mailed after all grades are finalized and certified by the Office of Academic Affairs. 

Applying for Graduation

To graduate, a student must complete all degree requirements and have a cumulative grade point average of 2.00 or above.

Students may participate in the Commencement ceremonies without completing all graduation requirements if they are no more than six (6) credits short of completing all requirements and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 1.95.  A Graduation Application must be submitted, and no degree will be awarded until requirements are met.
